The Baby: They Can Learn While You Sleep
Most new parents spend hours trying to get their baby to sleep. Once the baby is healthy to sleep, the general opinion is not to wake them. Now a new study provides another reason not to wake the baby: they can learn while you sleep.
This study examined 26 children who slept with one or two days. The researchers played the music and then applied a puff of air to them more than 200 times 30 minutes. They recorded the brain activity of the child “during the experiment by placing 124 electrodes on the scalp of babies. It showed that babies quickly learn to expect the air after hearing the music. These researchers concluded with a fourfold increase in the likelihood that their babies eyelid tightening in response to hearing voices. The scientists found that babies with skills in half the time of the study.
In addition, researchers also found brain activity increased in the frontal part of the brain of babies during the experiment. Previous research has shown an increase in brain activity motor, visual, auditory processing and centers of the brain during sleep in infants.
Scientists say the study of the response depends on the cerebellum of the brain. Accordingly, the present study have implications for future treatment of autism and dyslexia, two conditions associated with abnormal function of the cerebellum.
